How We Can Help?
Can I bring my own Ingredient List? (The Reality of Formula Replication)
We often receive inquiries from clients who have an ingredient list (INCI) from a favorite product and ask: “Can you make this exact formula for me?”
The short answer is: Yes, but it is a complex OEM process, not a simple Private Label task.
Here is why simply “following the list” is not enough, and how we can help you properly.
1. An Ingredient List is NOT a Recipe Reading the back of a box tells us what is in the product, but not how much or how it is made.
- Missing Percentages: The list does not show if an active ingredient is at 10% or 0.1%. Guessing wrong can make the product ineffective or dangerous.
- Missing Process: Skincare is chemistry. The order of mixing, heating temperatures, and homogenization speeds are trade secrets not listed on the label.
- The “Cake” Analogy: You can have a list of ingredients (Flour, Sugar, Eggs), but without the exact recipe and baking technique, you cannot replicate a Michelin-star cake.
2. Private Label vs. Custom Formula
- Private Label (Ready-to-Go): You cannot change the ingredients of our standard products. They are pre-developed, stability-tested, and ready to sell. You cannot simply “add” or “remove” an ingredient from the list without destabilizing the formula.
- Custom OEM (Your Ingredient List): If you require a specific ingredient list, this becomes a Custom Development Project.
3. The Right Way to Replicate a Product If you want us to match a specific product or ingredient list, we follow this professional R&D process:
- Step 1: Benchmark Sample. You must send us the physical product you want to copy. Our chemists need to analyze the texture, viscosity, and pH in the lab. We cannot work from a paper list alone.
- Step 2: R&D Fee. There is a formulation fee (typically starts at $XXX) for our chemists to reverse-engineer and create a prototype for you.
- Step 3: MOQ Requirement. Custom formulas require a Minimum Order Quantity of 100kg (approx. 3,000 – 5,000 units).
Summary:
- If you want Low MOQ (12 units) -> Please choose our proven Private Label formulas.
- If you want a Specific Ingredient List -> Be prepared for OEM MOQs (3000+ units) and R&D lead times.
