How We Can Help?
Packaging 101: Materials, Finishes & Printing Techniques
Choosing the right packaging is as important as the formula itself. At Aurora Global Brands, we offer a wide range of Standard (Private Label) and Custom (OEM) packaging solutions.
Use this guide to understand the materials and printing techniques available for your brand.
1. Material Selection: Choosing Your Canvas
Different formulas require different materials for stability and user experience.
- Glass Bottles & Jars:
- Best for: Serums, Face Oils, and High-end Creams.
- Characteristics: Heavy weight feels luxurious; chemically inert (excellent for potent actives).
- Options: Clear (Transparency), Frosted (Matte), or Opaque.
- Airless Pump Bottles:
- Best for: Anti-aging creams, Retinol, Vitamin C, and natural formulas.
- Why choose it? The vacuum system prevents air exposure (oxidation), keeping ingredients stable and extending shelf life.
- Plastic (PET/PP/Acrylic):
- Best for: Cleansers, Toners, Body Lotions (Shower safe).
- Characteristics: Lightweight, durable, and shatterproof. Acrylic offers a “glass-like” look without the fragility.
- Metal Tins & Tubes:
- Best for: Lip balms, solid perfumes, and eco-conscious lines.
2. Decoration & Finishes (Surface Treatment)
How the bottle looks and feels.
- Standard Finishes (Low MOQ):
- Clear/Gloss: Classic, shiny look.
- Frosted: A premium matte texture that diffuses light.
- Custom Finishes (OEM / High MOQ):
- Spray Coating (Matte/Rubber Touch): A soft-touch “velvet” feel painted over the bottle.
- Gradient Color: A seamless fade from one color to another (e.g., Blue to White).
- Electroplating: A full metallic coating (Gold, Silver, Rose Gold) that turns plastic into a mirror-like luxury component.
- Metallic Finish (Inner/Outer Plated): Plating the inside of a clear jar for a unique depth effect.
3. Logo Printing Techniques (The Branding)
We offer distinct printing methods based on your design needs.
A. Hot Stamping (Luxury Standard)
- The Look: A brilliant, reflective metallic shine (Gold, Silver, Rose Gold) or solid matte (Black/White).
- The Process: A heated copper die presses foil permanently into the packaging surface.
- Best For: Creating a high-end, department-store quality look.
- MOQ: Available for Private Label (11-12 units).
B. Silk-Screen Printing
- The Look: A crisp, solid layer of ink. The texture is slightly raised.
- The Process: Ink is pushed through a mesh screen onto the bottle.
- Best For: Clean, minimal text, ingredients lists, and single-color logos. Highly durable and water-resistant.
C. UV Printing (Digital / 3D)
- The Look: Full-color (CMYK) printing. capable of gradients and complex details.
- The Process: UV light cures the ink instantly. Can create a “3D” embossed effect or specific textures (e.g., UV Matte Soft-Touch).
- Best For: Complex colorful logos, photos, or gradients that Hot Stamping cannot achieve.
D. Laser Engraving (Premium OEM)
- The Look: Your logo is etched directly into the material (usually bamboo, wood, or coated metal).
- Best For: Sustainable lines or ultra-minimalist luxury.
4. Custom OEM Packaging Solutions (Project Management)
For brands ready to scale (MOQ 1000+), we offer comprehensive packaging engineering:
- Sourcing & Mold Opening: Can’t find the bottle you want? We can source unique shapes or open a private mold for a proprietary design.
- Color Matching: We match bottles and caps to your specific Pantone (PMS) color code.
- Compatibility Testing: We perform vacuum leakage tests and weight loss tests to ensure your formula interacts safely with the chosen material.
