How We Can Help?
What is the “Remote Area Surcharge”?
Sometimes, after we quote you a shipping price, you might see an extra fee on your invoice called “Remote Area Surcharge” (approx. $30 – $50).
1. What is it? Couriers (DHL/FedEx/UPS) classify certain zip codes as “Remote” if they are:
- Far from the nearest sorting hub.
- Difficult to access (e.g., Mountains, Islands, Ski Resorts).
- Located in a small town or village with low delivery volume.
- Note: This fee is charged by the Carrier, not by Aurora Global Brands.
2. How do I know if I am “Remote”? The classification is based strictly on your Postal/Zip Code.
- Even if you live in a wealthy, well-known area (e.g., a vacation spot in Aspen or the Hamptons), it might still be classified as “Remote” by logistics companies.
3. How to solve/avoid this fee? If you want to avoid paying the surcharge, you have two options:
- Option A: Change Address. Provide a shipping address in a major city or a commercial business district (e.g., ship to your office instead of your home).
- Option B: Pay the Fee. If you must ship to that specific location, the surcharge will be added to your shipping invoice.
Tip: If you are unsure, please provide your Zip Code to our sales team before paying, and we can check the database for you.
